The leading voice for supported employment in Britain
The British Association for Supported Employment is the national trade association representing hundreds of agencies involved in securing employment for people with disabilities. The association aims to raise awareness of supported employment, represent the sector on a collective basis, inform members, and encourage best practice. BASE facilitates regional member networks and supports providers and employers by being a hub of information and good practice.

Disability and welfare cuts
Disabled people are facing an unprecedented attack on their ability to live and work independently. A series of planned welfare reform changes will lead to reduced entitlements to welfare benefits, tax credits and housing benefit. BASE has joined the Campaign for a Fair Society and a number of campaigns are challenging these proposals. You can find out more by clicking on the link below.

How should we fund supported employment?

This year will see a major consultation on developing a new national disability employment strategy. BASE intends to submit proposals to the consultation and we'll be looking for your comments and suggestions.
To start things off, we have produced a briefing paper about the funding of supported employment and we're looking for your views about how supported employment should be commissioned and funded.
Read our outline proposals and tell us what you think!
Supported employment qualifications

The supported employment sector has long recognised the need to professionalise its workforce. BASE and Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) have worked together to produce 6 units, derived from the National Occupational Standards for supported employment, and we'd like your views on the content of a proposed Level 3 Certificate for Supported Employment Practitioners.
We would be very grateful if you could take the time to complete a short survey and help us get these qualifications right for the sector. You'll find the survey at www.surveymonkey.com/s/SEQualifications
