ABP toolkit helps assessment of functional skills in Maths and English

People with sight loss are often disadvantaged when completing computer-based diagnostic assessments to identify their level of competency in English and maths. Action for Blind People has designed the Skills In-Sight toolkit to make the assessment a more independent process, taking into consideration the individual’s sight condition and preferred method of working, such as Braille or large-print.

The Skills In-Sight toolkit will cover both maths and English from Entry Level 1 to Level 2. The assessment process will involve:
1. On-screen needs analysis
2. Initial assessment (on-screen and alternative format option)
3. Diagnostic assessment (on-screen and alternative format option)
4. Reporting process.

Action for Blind People is running a series of training days across the country to demonstrate how to use the toolkit and further details are available from sue [dot] grewcock [at] actionforblindpeople [dot] org [dot] uk
