The European Commission has published a study of supported employment services across Europe. The study mapped the use of Supported Employment in 30 countries; undertaking an in-depth study of six selected countries to look at policy recommendations. It also produced a compendium of good practices and directory of supporting services.

The incoming president of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS), Sarah Pickup, has said that care providers should cease bidding for council contracts at prices they feel are too low to deliver the specified service.

Skills for Care is currently undertaking a new project to establish how social care employers can be supported to fully utilise the skills of disabled people within their workforce.

The head of the mental health charity, Mind, has left the Harrington Scrutiny Panel which advises DWP on implementing changes to the Work Capability Assessment, describing them as "deeply flawed". Chief executive, Paul Farmer, says he quit because ministers refused to listen to his criticism of the current fitness-to-work test.
