Workwise
Workwise is part of the Work Zone at Social Security. The aim of Workwise is to support people who have special employment needs, or particular employment barriers, to prepare for and seek work.
If a customer meets the Workwise criteria, they may be assigned a Job Coach and whilst working in partnership with their Job Coach will agree on an action plan. This action plan will enable them to recognise their current strengths and weaknesses as well as employment potential, whilst focusing on suitable and realistic employment opportunities.
If appropriate, a variety of courses are available to assist the customer into employment. These include preparation for work, confidence building, personal development, computer training and work experience programmes, enabling the opportunity to improve or update skills.
Workwise can also offer support with any stage of the employment process including completing application forms, updating a C.V and improving interview techniques.
The level of support required will be agreed between the Job Coach and the customer. The Job coach will remain a point of contact for them and any prospective employers. Depending on the customers needs the Job Coach may even attend interviews with them or start their new job with them, providing support as they learn their new role.
