The Employment and Disability Service (EADS), exists to support people with a physical, sensory, mental health or learning disability in moving toward, gaining and / or sustaining paid employment.

EADS was set up in 1986, and currently sits within the Health and Social Services Directorate (HASS) of Northamptonshire County Council (NCC) and now works with around 600 people per year, with a team of 27 including:
* 17 Employment Development Officers (EDO’s)
* 3 Team Leaders
* 5 Administrative staff
* 1 Employment Liaison and Marketing Officer
* 1 Manager

EADS operates as a self funded department within NCC, and is currently delivering the Work Choice programme across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire as sole, end to end, sub contractor to Working Links.

Working with customers/clients
This support can include:
* Confidence and stamina building
* Guidance and training on interpersonal skills
* Interactive career guidance
* Job application and interview skills
* Providing “Work Tasters”
* Accompanied starts and job coaching
* Travel-to-Work training
* Support with applications for Access-to-Work (ATW) funding
* On-the-job support with sustaining employment
* Negotiation with employers for reasonable adjustments
* Skills training, via external courses.
* One to one support, delivered locally.

Working with Employers
This support can include:
* Information, advice and guidance on the employment of people with disabilities
* Providing support and guidance on disability issues,
* Reasonable adjustments and, aids and adaptations
* Providing support with retaining an employee if they become disabled
* Carrying out work station assessments for disabled employees.
* Promoting Disability Equality in the workplace
* Providing training for employers and their staff on disability and employment issues
