Mencap

Mencap

Royal Mencap Society is a learning disability charity working across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our primary aim is for the UK to be the best place in the world for people with a learning disability to live.

Our employment programmes are available in England and Northern Ireland for people with a learning disability, learning difficulties or autism. We offer a variety of employment training programmes in different parts of the country, including, Supported Internships, Traineeships and Apprenticeships (collectively referred to as The 3 Ships) as well as Supported Employment programmes, the most notable of which is in London, covering every borough. In Northern Ireland, we support people with a learning disability, in all parts of the province, to develop their employability and sustain paid employment.

We also have partnerships with schools to deliver employability programmes for Post 16 students to help young people to prepare for transition. This programme is available to commission by local authorities and/or education providers.

We have excellent relationships with employers and wherever possible seek to develop bespoke programmes to meet individual needs and preferences for the people we support.
