Lincolnshire County Council provides a supported employment service to actively encourage and support disabled people in to sustained employment.
Supported employment is a personalised approach to working with disabled people who want to have a job.
The team can offer the following services:
* We employ a team of Employment Officers and Job coaches their aim is to provide the vital link between different parties - Jobcentre Plus, training providers, colleges, Connexions, voluntary organizations and employers. An assessment to establish individuals' aspirations, skills, support needs and identifying realistic and achievable employment goals.
* We organise and support work placements/ work experience to assist individuals in trying out different areas of work and making an informed choice of occupation.
* Job coaching and support in work placements help in finding and applying for jobs assistance in accessing help, guidance and support from other providers form filling and CV writing
* Confidence building and assertiveness training, interview skills, social skills related to work support once in employment.
The service is also working with schools and colleges within Lincolnshire to assist young people (age 16+) with disabilities to choose work as a viable alternative to further education if they wish, or help them into more vocational courses.
