Lancashire County Council
Lancashire County Council's Employment Support Service provides employment support for people with a disability, mental health needs or who are on qualifying benefits and who live within Lancashire.
The service can support people to seek, obtain and maintain both part-time and full-time paid employment.
There are 3 parts of the service;
1. Employment Support Service – supports people who are known to social services and/or mental health teams in Lancashire. The referral process is via a care coordinator/Single point of access or Social Worker. All people referred to Lancashire County Council are allocated a dedicated Employment Officer who will provide an individualised person-centred service that enables a thorough insight into their needs, allowing the production of a work development plan. The service will support a person to secure paid employment with the aid of the development plan and match the skills of the person to those required by an employer. Once paid employment has been secured support in the workplace is available for as long as it is required; however the aim of the service is to ensure that natural workplace supports are maintained for the long term to ensure sustainability.
2. Work Choice – DWP's programme with the aim of ensuring that people who face the most complex and long-term barriers to employment will receive the support they need, including in the workplace. The programme is to support people into work of 16hrs or more per week and have sustainable employment. Referrals come via the Disability Employment Advisor at the Job Centre. Work choice is available to people living in Blackpool as well as most parts of Lancashire.
3. Community Re-Start (available in East Lancashire) - The aim of this project is to improve the health and well-being of people with mental health needs in East Lancashire by supporting access to mainstream community activities and to gain and retain paid employment.
