Bradford Metropolitan District Council

Industrial Services Group (ISG)

ISG is a supported business located in Bradford. It is part of the department for Regeneration and Culture within the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council.

ISG exists solely to support the training, development and provide employment for local people with disabilities. It provides meaningful work opportunity and training for people with a range of disabilities including visual and hearing impairment, physical disabilities, and mental disabilities. Customers on the Work Choice programme are a mixture of long-term employees and new trainees who are undergoing an individual programme specifically aimed at giving them the life and job skills to allow them to achieve jobs in open unsupported employment.

ISG supports the Work Choice specialist disability provision launched by the Department of Work and Pensions in 2010, and has 46 managed places on this programme. New customers coming onto the programme undergo extensive assessment to allow personalised plans to be generated, which define the best environment to train and work towards achieving suitable job outcomes. ISG also offers a number of placement opportunities for individuals to gain short-term experience of the world of work.

The Work Choice activity is underpinned by commercial activity across four different businesses in the Bradford district:
The Manufacturing department manufactures PVC-u windows, composite doors, and half-hour fire check doors, to a high standard fully compliant with the West Yorkshire Police 'Secured by Design' standard. Its main customers include Housing Associations, ALMO's and construction companies across the Yorkshire region.

Festival Lights carry out design, manufacture and installation of lighting features for Christmas and other religious festivals and supplies to over 50 Local Authorities across the Midlands and North of England.

The new IT Asset Recovery department processes redundant IT equipment to make it data-safe, for a range of public and private sector organisations.

The Mailing and Packing department completes mail-sort and repacking activities for a variety of local customers including the Local Authority itself.

The Work Choice programme is delivered in partnership with The Pluss Organisation (www.pluss.org.uk) across West Yorkshire.
